MISSION INFERNO
In August 2024, we traveled to the Canadian West to launch Mission Inferno. This mission aimed to capture images of the wildfires as seen from the stratosphere, and to test a prototype of infrared camera.
We successfully captured remarkable footage from over 33 kilometers above the Canadian Rockies. Unfortunately, our infrared camera prototype failed and stopped recording after 15 minutes. We are now working on a new and more reliable 360° version of the camera.
With these infrared images integrated into a virtual reality experience and through our science-based immersive storytelling we aim to raise awareness about climate change and the direct impact it has on the wildfires around the world.
INFRARED PROTOTYPE
Our first infrared prototype was a GoPro with a modified lense and special IR filter.
We are now working to build a 360° infrared camera so we can integrate the footage in a virtual reality experience enabling to the viewer to switch between visible light and infrared light.
OUR ADVENTURE IN THE ROCKIES
Dorothy reach 32.659 meters above the Rockies and landed in a very challenging terrain.
It took us 3 days to recover the module deep in the woods.
