The Documentary
Today, the project is in the writing phase to become an environmental documentary film that will explore the metaphor of Earth as a spaceship and how nature manifests to remind us that this spaceship is our protective habitat. Like a spaceship on an interstellar mission, our planet is a closed, self-sufficient system, navigating through space with limited resources, requiring careful management by its passengers to maintain a viable environment for all its life forms.
We will follow the adventures of an amateur scientific team on five continents who have set themselves the challenge of documenting the forces of nature from the stratosphere using their module called Dorothy. During their various missions, they will meet and work with locals, sharing their knowledge and passion for science. Through their portraits, the film will explore the philosophical motivations behind our relentless quest for knowledge and exploration, examining how these elements define and shape our place in the universe.
At 35 km above our planet, Dorothy will capture images from a unique perspective of natural phenomena such as volcanic eruptions, hurricanes, glacier melts, auroras, solar eclipses, forest fires, animal migrations, and more. She will be the main narrator of the film, and through her visual testimonies, she will invite us to reflect on our role as passengers and our duty of preservation towards our habitat, as individuals and as a species.
In the face of the vastness of the universe and the strength and magnitude of the natural phenomena they try to document, the place of this small team of amateurs who give their all to carry out their missions may seem insignificant. However, this cosmic perspective can be transformed into a source of great humility and wonder, conveying a message of hope for humanity.
